Location independent jobs have taken what used to be a guaranteed life in a 9-5 cubicle, and lets you bring the office with you. 10 Best Location Independent Jobs
A common myth about location independent jobs is that you have to be tech-savvy to have one. Although you can’t be totally technically challenged, there are lots of location independent jobs that require very little specialized skill. A common location independent job that is fairly low tech is a virtual assistant. Virtual assistants can have many roles including answering emails, booking appointments, bookkeeping, and other administrative work. And they are able to work from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection and a laptop! So long as you are organized, disciplined, and self-motivated, this location independent job gives you the freedom and flexibility you want without sacrificing your paycheck.
Virtual assistants can earn between $15-$25 an hour and be both part-time and full-time! With a quickly evolving digital world, this is a location independent job that is in high demand. Due to its low tech requirement, above average salary, and flexibility, this is one of the best jobs that let you work on the road.
If you have an eye for pretty things and know how to work your way around photoshop, Graphic Design is the location independent job for you! Graphic Design is one of the most common gigs digital nomads get because its salary and flexibility are unbeatable. You will spend a lot of time up front without getting a paycheck. With that said, however, after you start getting traffic, your blog will make money while you sleep. Ways bloggers make money include sponsorships, advertising, and affiliate marketing. Before you know it, you will be able to live off of blogging and talking about your passion. If you’re all about putting in hard work for major pay off, this location independent job is for you.

So you’re saying you can make money while traveling just by teaching the language you already speak? Sign me up! Well, friend, it’s definitely a huge opportunity that not enough people are taking advantage of and isn’t even difficult to start! To teach English abroad, you’re going to need to know a few things in regards to experience, qualifications, and which online platforms will be your home. Common online platforms include VIPKid, Cambly, and QKids.
This is one of the best location independent jobs because it’s lucrative and flexible. Online English teachers can make anywhere from $15-$22 an hour and create their own schedule! The only thing I would say you need to consider is that a lot of the classes cater to students in Asia. This means that if you are in a different timezone, you may have to adjust your sleeping schedule. If that’s something you’re okay with, you will be hard pressed to find a more flexible digital nomad job.
Customer Service Representative
Earlier I was telling you that location independent jobs don’t have to be high tech. Well, I meant it! There are hundreds of companies from around the world that hire remote customer service representatives to represent their company. Think about it. When was the last time you have called a customer service line and spoke to someone from your country? Customer service representatives work from anywhere in the world and often only need a quiet room and computer with an internet connection! This allows you to make money from home or while you’re on the road.
One thing to note with this location independent job is that it’s not time independent. As a Customer Service Representative, you have set hours where you are sitting by your computer in the event a customer calls. If that is something you’re okay with, there is no reason for you to not consider this digital nomad job as an option. Especially since customer service representatives make between $10-$25 an hour, and can find full-time and part-time gigs. With so many people starting online based businesses, people need rockin’ websites to stand out. Because of this, it is super easy to find a job in website design if you are looking to become location independent.
Website designers can make between $70-$150 an hour, and sometimes get paid upwards of $2000 for a branding project! This is awesome because they make bank and can do it all from their computer! Although website design requires very specialized skills, courses on Teachable can show you exactly how to create websites for others!
