Stress and Anxiety are battles that many of us, unfortunately, have to fight. Though people don’t want to talk about it, stress can be debilitating and can be a slippery slope to more serious issues like panic attacks, or depression. This post was written to help you find stress relief with 6 easy stress management tips!


Stress Management Tips

Stress Less by Getting Active

Fitness has been called the fountain of youth for years, and there is a reason! Apart from keeping you physically in shape, exercise plays a huge role in stress management, too. When you exercise, your brain releases a bunch of feel-good called endorphins, while reducing the stress hormones, called cortisol. This makes you feel happier, and energized after your workout, and will allow you to stress less and accomplish more.


Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is when we stop everything we are doing and thinking, and just focus on the present moment, bringing to our consciousness bodily sensations, thoughts, and feelings that we wouldn’t notice otherwise. This is a powerful tool to have in your stress management toolbox because it allows you to come back to your center. It can make a stressful day lose its power over you, and give you the clarity you need to tackle the “next big thing”. Mindfulness doesn’t have to take a long time either! Whether you take a minute, or an hour, just taking the time to focus on yourself and relax can make all the difference.

Create a routine

When I first started “adulting”, my mornings had way too much coffee, not enough breakfast, and had me super stressed even before my day began. I blamed the world for my crappy mornings, but hadn’t done anything myself to fix it! So guess what? I started my own routine. Start your day with meditation or prayer! Plan breakfast ahead of time. Anything that will help you start your day on the right foot.



Reduce unnecessary responsibilities that are adding to your plate, but not giving you much benefit. Make a list of the things you need to do, and circle the single most important item on that list. That should be the only thing you focus on until it’s completed. Focusing on one thing at a time will prevent you from getting burned out and help you stress less.


Change your perspective to find stress relief

So much of how we live depends on how we see the world. Sometimes we spend so much time focusing on the negative things going on in life, that we don’t take the time to notice all of the great stuff going on around us! This leads to a lack of fulfillment, frustration, and depression. You don’t want that! Take some time to smell the roses,  and practice a little gratitude!  Changing your perspective may be all you need to live a stress-free life!


The book Life from the Top of the Mind by Bill Crawford teaches a super awesome cheat sheet to manage stress right when it happens, and it’s an acronym called BRAIN.

B- Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and breathe out for 4 seconds. Do this until you are ready to move to the next phase.

R- Relax. Say the word “relax” as you exhale

A- Ask yourself how you would rather be feeling. i.e: Happy, at peace, relaxed, sleepy, less stressed etc…

I- Imagine yourself feeling that way

N- Notice the difference!

After battling my own anxiety for years, I cannot tell you enough how much this has helped. It’s nice to be able to go to sleep at night, instead of staying up for hours with dread and panic.
