From world-class rock climbing opportunities, to island-dotted beaches, to some of the best hotels for accommodation in Krabi, there is no shortage of delightful experiences to be had here. In this article, I will help you make the most of your holiday escape to Ao Nang, Krabi and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.

Go Shopping on the AoNang Walking Street

The heart of Aonang is located on the Aonang Walking street. Directly on the beachfront, there is a small road full of shops and restaurants where you can buy Thailand souvenirs, and eat delicious food. What makes this road unique is that it is all right across from an unobstructed view of the sea, and islands silhouetted in the distance. Though the street is relatively small in comparison to some of the other markets, it is densely packed with boutiques selling a wide variety of handmade items.

Monkey Trail Ao Nang

The Monkey Trail in Ao Nang, Thailand is a short but popular hike that takes you through a forest and up to a viewpoint with stunning views of the beach. The trail is about half a mile long (800 meters) and takes about 20 minutes to walk. Along the way, you’ll see a variety of monkeys, including long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, and crab-eating macaques.

The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow, but it can be slippery in wet weather. Wear sturdy shoes and long pants to protect yourself from the monkeys and Thailand’s other savage critter, mosquitos. This might be one of the riskier things to do in Ao Nang, but still worth seeing!

Also make sure you avoid the large alpha male monkeys as they are the most aggressive. Go early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. Watch the Sunset from Aonang Beach

The sunsets in Krabi province are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen in the world – and I’ve been to 45 countries. and the seeing the sunset here is definitely the most beautiful thing to do in Aonang. Aonang beach is the perfect spot to sit on the beach and enjoy the sky turning hues of orange, red, pink, and purple.

There is plenty of seating on the elevated walking street, but if you don’t mind getting sandy, take the stairs and sit on the sand. There is plenty of space of this beach to have picnic or buy a couple of beers at the 7-11 across the street. If there is one thing you don’t miss in Aonang, let it be this sunset.

AoNang Landmark Night Market

The Aonang Landmark Night market is my favorite area of town to visit when I want to eat yummy street food, listen to live music, and sit beach-front with a Pad Thai. This bustling market has over 50 vendors selling popular items like Mango Sticky Rice, Pad Thai, Pad Ka Prao, and a Southern delicacy, Tom Yum Kung.

The beachfront seating area is also a bar where you can get a variety of mixed drinks, or local beers like Chang, Singha, and Leo. Don’t miss out on B’s Mango Sticky Rice Stall, it’s by far the best mango sticky rice in Thailand. If you happen to visit Landmark during the day, then you want to make sure you stop by Yenly Yours. This is a mango themed restaurant that is well-decorated and Instagramable.

Take a Walk Down Nopparat Thara Beach

There is nothing better than waking up to a beautiful, sunny day and taking a walk down Nopparat Thara Beach. This long beach sits along a paved walkway fully manicured with tropical plants. Set in the idyllic region between Krabi Town and Ao Nang, Railay Beach boasts one of the most stunning beaches in the country, if not the world. And it’s not just the picturesque landscape that attracts visitors. Railay Beach also offers a plethora of activities to keep travelers entertained. For those seeking an adventure, rock climbing is a must-try experience, offering a unique vantage point to take in the panoramic views of the Andaman Sea.

Railay-beach-View Krabi

Railay Beach is a stunning destination divided into east and west. While the east is mainly covered with mangroves, Railay West offers fine sands that lead you into the ocean for a swim. Though the tides can be low, required swimming a few meters offshore provides an opportunity for deeper immersion. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or outdoor pursuits, Railay Beach is a must-visit destination.

Take the Famous 4 Island Tour from Ao Nang, Krabi

The 4 Islands Tour is perhaps one of the most popular tours in Krabi, and for good reason. It traverses the Andaman Sea, taking you to some of the most iconic landmarks in the region. One of the must-see islands is Ko Kai, also referred to as the Chicken Island due to its peculiar-shaped mountain top that resembles a chicken’s head. This natural wonder is a sight to behold, and is a hotspot for photographers.

It’s essential to drink plenty of water, especially when spending time under the sun and engaging in water activities. I always travel with a refillable water bottle like this one.

For low tide tours, you can walk on the narrow strap of sands that connects the tiny islands of Ko Mor and Koh Thap. Exploring these two islands on foot will give you a unique perspective of the surrounding beauty and allow you to appreciate nature’s intricate work.

Regardless of the danger, travel insurance is just the responsible thing to do when you’re investing thousands of dollars on a trip. But especially if you’re going to be doing boat trips, hikes, or any of the amazing adventure activities Thailand has to offer: Get insurance. We have used SafetyWing to cover our travels the last 3 years and are very happy with their service. But even if you don’t get the one we recommend, don’t leave your country without getting travel insurance.

Phra Nang Cave Beach

Hidden away in the Krabi province, Phra Nang Cave Beach is a true gem waiting to be discovered.
